Pastor Peter Mitimingi – The Director and the Founder of The Voice of Hope Ministries Tanzania
.............................................................................................................................................................................
Two years before the inception of this ministry, God spoke to me personally concerning the mandate to establish it, to reach a people whom God designated to me as THE NEGLECTED people. I enquired of Him as to what He meant by that concept. God revealed it to me that the concept encompassed, among other groups that the Holy Spirit would progressively continue to reveal to me, the people wallowing in abject poverty in the countryside.

Frankly and, humanly speaking, it was difficult for me to accept this new and challenging vocation as I saw it as a negative tendency in my ministerial aspirations. From 1992 to 2000, I had been involved in evangelistic campaigns in Schools, Colleges and Institutions of Higher Learning throughout the country. I did that ministry in extremely cumbersome circumstances. In the year 2001, God graciously moved me to another ministry that dealt with training of church leaders; and so I became fully involved in church leaders training programs. This was an International Ministry, which inevitably took me to different regions within the country as well as to some African countries and beyond the African Continent. In my limited human understanding, this ministry was comfortably appealing to me to work with permanently!
To the contrary, God showed me how majority of His servants have opted to neglect rural areas and preferred to establish themselves in urban Centers, and have completely forgotten His people in the villages particularly, the poor villagers who are poor to the extent that they are even incapable of giving offerings, accommodation and, more importantly, food to preachers! These are the neglected people and places where the LORD has called us to go and commence new work. Admittedly, this vision is extremely huge and profound, whose focus is to reach all rural areas in Tanzania and beyond its borders. In this context we, alone, cannot accomplish it; we need integrated efforts in order to fulfill the Great Commission.

Pastor Peter and Subira Mitimingi – The Founders of The Voice of Hope Ministries
.........................................................................................................................................................................

The Lord put the burden in my wife and I to establish a Ministry to the neglected people. We started this ministry part-time as we were serving God with ICM fulltime. Towards the end of 2007 we felt in our heart that, the time has come for us to invest all of our time and energy to undertake this new calling.
  • THE VOICE OF HOPE MINISTRIES
There are many voices people have heard and they are hearing every day.

The voice of AIDS, spiritual and physical death, poverty, loneliness, rejection, marital problems, orphanage, wars, and many others. All these voices make people feel hopeless every day.

In response to the above cries, The Voice of Hope Ministries brings Good News. It is the voice of Jesus Christ to His people. God has raised this ministry to be a comfort to the people who are hopeless and neglected in one way or another.

The Voice of Hope Ministries is a non-governmental, non-profit making, non-political, non-sectarian, non discriminatory and a service oriented organization.

    The Great Concern for VHM
The last command given by the Lord Jesus Christ to all His followers and disciples from generation to generation as in the book of Saint Mathews 25:35-40.

    34) “Then the King will say to those on His right hand ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35) for I was hungry and you gave something to eat, I was thirsty you gave something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36) I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Then the righteous will answer Him, Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38) When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39) When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ 40) The King will reply ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine you did for me."

VHM is a God-Ordained and directed ministry

These are men and women who, in a common devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ, have committed their lives to help bring about the total evangelization (Psychologically, Physically and spiritually) to the world.

In order to pursue more effectively these God-given objectives, we embrace the following doctrines as the essential characteristics of THE VOICE OF HOPE MINISTRIES and whole-heartedly commit ourselves to its application in our lives.

    1.The Lordship of Jesus Christ.

    2. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer as taught in the Bible.

    3. A consistent devotional life, characterized by an attitude of fervent prayer.

    4. Increasing personal knowledge of Jesus Christ through faithful reading, hearing, studying, memorizing and meditation on God’s word.

    5. Personal holiness.

    6. Total reliance on God for His all-sufficient grace to meet and supply every need.

    7. The fulfillment of the Great Commission in this generation and in every succeeding generation until the Lord returns.

    8. The use of systematic strategies, planning and evaluation to accomplish our task.

    9. The practice of initiative Evangelization Ministry, Follow-up Ministry Discipleship Ministry and Servant hood Leadership, which are Culturally Relevant.

    10. The principles of multiplication to expose, win, build, train, send and plant.

    11. An ongoing training program for staff which includes an annual, concentrated period of training. The wife of every full-time staff member shall undergo training, fulfill staff training requirements and serve as a staff member (as her role specifies).

    12. A life of personal discipline – spiritually, psychologically and physically.

    13. The importance of the Local Church. Recognition of the local Church as the prime ongoing focus of God’s work. We therefore require our staff members to formally identify with a Church and also that these to whom they minister be encouraged to make similar identification.

    14. An attitude of love toward all people everywhere, regardless of race or nationality or status quo.

    15. Refusal to engage in negative criticism.

    16. Following our Lord Jesus Christ by assuming the role of a servant in our dealings with others.

    THE DEPARTMENTS FOR VHM
VHM as an organization has several different departments

    I. VILLAGES AND FIELDS DEPARTMENT

This is the heart and the core of our Ministry.
The Lord called us to reach the people who are hopeless and neglected. Most of these people live in villages.

Before we decide which village we are going to embark on in the ministry we are, first, send a small team to several villages to do the survey. We want to know the kind of village we will be going for. We want to know things like:
    · how many people are living in that village
    · Is there any church or no church at all
    · What religion dominates that village
    · How many times do they get external preachers from outside in a year
    · what is the maximum number of our team members that should go
    · Do we have to build a church for the people who will come to the Lord
    · Where will the team stay, etc.

When we have identified a village we want to visit, then two weeks before we go for missions, we send a team of intercessors to fast and pray in the proposed target field where we will be doing the missions. This team will fast and pray at least for one week to clear the atmosphere before the actual ministries take place.
Later the team will go for a mission of one week or more depending on the needs of a particular place.

When we visit the village this is what we normally do:
    · In the morning, we do personal evangelism. This means the team is witnessing person to person
    · In the afternoon the team will come together for prayer before the crusade
    · In the evening, at 3pm, we have an open air-crusade at which we invite all the people in the village to come to the open space .In most cases; this is done in the area that does not belong to the church. Then in the evening, we preach by showing the CINEMA of the Life of Christ and we have seen many come to Christ through this tool
People are saying YES to Christ after one of the Jesus Cinema Show
.....................................................................................................................................................................
Most of the people do not feel like going to reach people in the villages. As a result people in various villages have not been reached, not only spiritually but also physically
They have spiritual as well as physical needs to be met.
......................................................................................................................................................................
We visit various villages; and preach the Gospel of hope to them. Some villages we visited have had not even a single church.
Some villages have some churches that (those) are very bad and not attractive for non believers to come and worship there.
...................................................................................................................................................................
Left photo shows how we found this church in the village. It has only three members. The second photo shows how we started putting a structure for them to worship in.
These are the photos on the last days in our preaching .56 people came to the Lord and joined this church
.................................................................................................................................................................

The major aim of the visit to the villages is to share the love of Christ with people and tell them how much God loves them and how He sent his only son Jesus Christ to die for their sins.
These are people in the village, saying YES to Christ. Many people come to the Lord every time we do preach. God sets free many people from the wickedness and witchcraft.
.......................................................................................................................................................................
Many people in the villages we visit are oppressed by demons and witchcraft. There are a lot of satanic influences in those villages and many people are bound by the satanic power.
Above photos are some of people who were demons possessed. After prayer, Jesus set them free completely.
.....................................................................................................................................................................
I. SPECIAL GROUP DEPARTMENT
This is another department we have in our organization as VHM. In this department we have two divisions.

(a). People Affected by Alcohol and Drugs
This department deals with the people who are affected by the drugs and alcohol.
The Lord directed us to reach this kind of group, because it is one of the groups which are neglected.
Not many people would like to take a step of reaching this group. Since our core vision is to provide Hope to the people who are hopeless and neglected, we feel we do have the responsibility to reach these people and take them through the process of rehabilitation.

(b). Commercial Sex Workers Ministry.
In this department of Special Groups, we also deal with this ministry to the prostitutes. These are ladies who are doing business of selling their bodies. This group is one among the neglected groups. The churches and other Christian organizations know that there is this kind of business going on, but no one is ready to take steps of reaching them with the gospel. We have done a good and big survey in the areas where they do their business. We had to talk to them and ask some questions why they are doing that kind of business and how they can be helped to come out from that kind of life.

We found out that most of them do not do it because they like. It is because of the hard life and poverty they found themselves in that they engage in this kind of business. We want to establish a ministry which will aim at reaching them with the gospel of Jesus and taking them out from that kind of life.

We found out that most of them do not do it because they like. It is because of the hard life and poverty they found themselves engaged in this kind of business. We want to establish a ministry that aim at reaching them with the gospel of Jesus and taking them out from that kind of life.

One of the approaches we want to start with is to invite them for lunch or dinner in one of the halls we will hire, there we will have enough time to listen to them and finally share the message of hope to them. They have given us their network and they are ready to call their friends to come for lunch or dinner with us and listen to what we have brought to them.

We have many challenges in doing this ministry. First of all, we need to select few people who are gifted in this area and take them into training on how to reach a group like this. We want to make sure our team is well equipped in this kind of ministry. We don’t want the team to be pulled out by them but we want the team to be very strong with good strategies to bring them to Christ.

Another challenge is to get some people who will volunteer to host these people when they come to Christ, because most of them live in Brothels we call ‘Dangulo’- a big house whereby ten to fifty commercial sex workers live. In such a house, it is very difficult for someone who accepts Christ to survive in that kind of environment.

We need to get some Christians in the Churches who will volunteer to host them until they are able to stand by themselves.
One of the options we are praying about is to get designated funds that will be used to give them a loan to do some business as a way of surviving until they are able to stand by themselves.

II. WOMEN DEPARTMENT

Introduction of Women of Hope:
This is one of our departments.
This department is called the Women of Hope.

The women of Hope ministry seeks to instill confidence and self-awareness into women that they are capable. Many women have been caged by giants that shout out threateningly, “YOU CAN NOT”, “YOU ARE NOT EDUCATED”, “YOU DO NOT KNOW”, “YOU ARE POOR”, et cetera. As a result, many women are completely dispirited. Therefore, they are timorous; they have lost the self-confidence to dare because, the giants have monopolized their potentials! They are upset and subjugated! The Women of Hope declares to women under such conditions that, God loves them and He wants to use them in their areas of gifting. Women can be great and wonderful preachers, International business Women, Bank Managers, Doctors, and even Pilots, etc.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
God enabled us to conduct two kinds of seminars:
(a) We had a seminar in June 2008, during which three teachers ministered.
(i) Women and service – Mrs. Lucy Masembo
(ii) Managing the Family – Pastor, Oliver Massawe
(iii) Woman with a dynamic, change-oriented, ministry – Pastor, T. Mhiro
(b) We conducted the second seminar in September 2008. The seminar centered on “How to interpret scriptures”, by Pastor, P. Mitimingi.
(c) We had several meetings with an intention to see how we could achieve efficiency in our department, through the following departmental vision:

1. To see how we could reach many women within and without our country.
2. Strategize for visiting rural women in order to spread our ministry
3. To conduct seminars with women on several spiritual and secular subjects such as entrepreneurship, sanitation, business, et cetera.
4. To develop women educationally ranging from literacy, English language, Computer, etc. This includes us, leaders with the Women of Hope, so that we may expand our horizons of knowledge in leadership and international communications.
5. To have partnership with women outside the country in order to build each other in different areas, to exchange experiences, and to visit each other. For example, we had visitors in June 2008 and so, we had good time together; we shared the word of God, and we discussed several life issues.
6. We, as women, have several strategies of organizing and conducting evangelistic meetings in rural areas in different regions of our country, preachers being women.
7. Prepare Lunch Time for women of all denominations (though we do not publicize it) with the purpose of preaching the Word of God to them. We may call this event “GOSPEL LUNCH”.

· God wants women to know how much he loves them that is why He has raised this ministry to meet the needs of women.

· Many women today carry such big loads on their shoulders and are also overworked with other home activities. Most of them are hopeless and neglected.
It is so wonderful when they realize that God can heal their wounded hearts, fill them with his love, and take off the big load.

· Our hearts as the Women of Hope are so full of love for the hopeless and neglected women.

What we want to do is help women from our communities. We want to offer HOPE and encouragement, and a safe place to be healed from their painful pasts. We build them up with the love of God and help them to find their destinies.
These are some of the Women of Hope in one of their seminars
..........................................................................................................................................................................
The aim of Women of Hope is as follows:
1. To evangelized and bring many women to Christ
2. To equip women for ministry, especially to the neglected areas.
3. To help widows and other women who are in difficult situations
4. To build confidence in women that God can use them to change their societies and the world
5. To provide counseling training for key women leaders who will help others to do counseling for the women who are suffering from different problems. For example: Christian women who are married to Muslims or men of other religions, or married to drunkards who do not care about the family.
6. To train women about self-sustenance
7. To help them increase their income so as they can be in a position to support their families economically.
8. We want to have counseling sites in different places to help women who are undergoing problems in their families and life in general.

CHALLENGES
In running this ministry, we encounter several challenges. These include:
(i) Since we are just beginning, there is difficulty in several areas, for instance: how to get money, low level of attendance, and how to publicize the ministry, etc.
(ii) Many women have businesses. “They are busy”, with studies, employed jobs, et cetera.
(iii) Women departments (unions) are available in all churches. Thus, it is not easy to catch the attention of many women and to get them to align with our objectives. This is a challenge to us, too.
(iv) We have not yet acquainted with one another in terms of academic achievements, professions, and executive competencies. This poses difficulty as to who should be who. This is also a challenge.

CONCLUSION: We, members of Women of Hope, are delighted in counsel, Prayer and collaboration from all members of VHM. It is our prayer that, God intervenes in our operations so that, His Will, will be accomplished through this ministry. GOD BLESS YOU.

I. CHILDREN DEPARTMENT

We also have ministry to children
· There are many children who are living very difficult lives
· Some of them have lost their parents and consequently have become street children.
· We want to help neglected children who have lost hope to live a better life.
· We want them to know that God loves them and He takes care of them
· We want them to feel that there are other parents in Christ, who will love and take care of them.
· We want to help them to come to the future and the destiny of their lives as God purposed for them
· We want to help the children who are orphans and are not in school or children whose parents are unable to take them to school
To help the children who are victims of HIV/AIDS.
.........................................................................................................................................................................
YOUTH DEPARTMENT
Youth groups are one of the most important groups in ministry.
The Bible says, “…I have written to you, young men, because you are Strong, and the word of God remains in you, and you have overcome the evil one.” (1Jn 2:14)

· God also wants youths to know how much He loves them; that is why, He has raised this ministry to meet their needs.

· A good number of the youths are neglected by their families. Some of them lost their parents. As a result, they are living a hopeless life.

It is so wonderful when they realize that God can heal their wounded hearts, fill them with his love, and take off the big load they carry.
.
What we want to do is help the youths through our communities. We want to offer HOPE and encouragement, and a safer place for them, to get their painful past healed.

We build them up with the love of God and help them to find their destinies.
The aims of Youth Ministry are as follows:
1. To evangelize and bring many youths to Christ
2. To equip youths for ministry especially to the neglected areas
3. To help the ones who are in difficult situations
4. To build confidence in them so God can use them to change their societies and the world.
5. To provide counseling training for key youth leaders who will help others to do counseling for the fellow youths who are suffering from similar or different problems.
6. To train them about self sustenance
7. To conduct youth camps and youth awareness programs, so to teach the youths on how to live holy lives and wait upon God’s appointed time.
8. To help the youth who are affected by HIV/AIDS
9. To train them in vocational skills
10. To help them increase their income so that they can be in a position of supporting themselves and their families.

I. TRAINING DEPARTMENT
As a ministry, we understand the importance of training
This is a reason why we decided to create a training department.
In this department, we travel around the country in the cities and villages, teaching and training church leaders so that they may become effective leaders and have the burden to support and reach the people in the villages.
..........................................................................................................................................................................
In this Leadership Training Program, we are using the leadership materials from The Equip Ministries founded by Dr. John Maxwell. We have gone to many places to teach and train church leaders and wherever we went, people have been testifying how the training has been helpful to their personal lives as well as the ministries they do.

In this case, we have made it a commitment that every member of our ministry should undergo this leadership training because we understand how important it is for our people and their ministries.
These are some of the church leaders, who have graduated in one of our leadership training sites.
.........................................................................................................................................................................
This Leadership Training Program takes three years to complete.
Students attend all classes and complete a series of six books in order to qualify to graduate. After three years, they come for graduation whereby they are conferred a certificate from the Equip Ministries with Dr. John Maxwell.

It is very important to train our leaders in order to be effective leaders. It has been said that the church of Africa is 1000 miles wide but 1 inch deep! Furthermore, it has been said that in Africa 24,000 people are coming to the Lord every day. The question we can ask is, where are those people who are coming to Christ every day? May be the answer is, they go back to where they came from because the church is lacking a good system of leadership to keep them in the church! This is why we need to train our church leaders to be strong enough to handle the work.

I. SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
This is a department geared to deal with the social needs as a way or a tool to reach people with the gospel. In some villages, Christianity is not welcomed. The only way to open the door for the gospel to people of those communities is to touch them with a Social development initiative.
It is part of what Christ did. He gave people the spiritual food (The word of God) and physical needs (he fed them with bread and fish)

1. We want to promote the social welfare of groups identified herein as orphans, street children, helpless HIV/IDS victims and those who are in impending risk of HIV/AIDS infection, drug addicts, disabled people such as dumb, deaf, lame, helpless poor old people, helpless poor widows, as well as prisoners, poverty reduction Human rights, environment and all development activities.

2. To promote social, psychological, moral welfare of the social groups identifies in the mission statement.
3. To provide, promote and support access to education and training opportunities, and apprenticeship courses, medical care and other basic social provisions for these groups.
4. To collaborate with community based organizations, governmental and non-government organizations-local and international, researchers in addressing development related issues.
5. To raise public awareness on the spread of HIV/AIDS pandemic, its control, mitigation and prevention and development issues by dissemination of information, conducting seminars, dialogues and encouraging debates and public dialogues aimed at raising awareness on issues of HIV/AIDS, civil and socio-economic rights of these groups.
6. To establish a center, for efficient performance of the organization’s functions. The center will include: accommodation facilities for different groups identified by the organization.
7. To build or lease premises for the establishment of facilities needed for the efficient performance of the functions and realization of the objectives and aims of the organization.
8. To encourage networking with other organizations in order to build the capacity of the Organization in achieving its objectives.
9. To cooperate, affiliate or amalgamate with any non-governmental, governmental or inter-governmental organization whose aims and objectives are in part or in whole, similar to the objectives of our Organization.
10. To provide education and training on issues related to diseases control and prevention.
11. To promote access to material on health maters and articles.
12. To undertake research on the spread, prevention, mitigation and control of HIV/AIDS and drug addiction, and suggest measures to remedy the situation.
13. To do other duties that advance and, are consistent with the status, goals, aims and objectives of our organization.
14. To advocate for safer options in diseases i.e. HIV/AIDS control and prevention; to create awareness in civic education; to raise public awareness on activities that have impact on the environment.

We are also collaborating with one organization (SON International) which deals with making filters and distributing them to the people in the villages.

We have agreed with them that they will be giving us some of the filters to take them to the villages as a tool with which to share the love of Christ to the people rural areas.
In this program, we take the filters to the people in the villages and we call them in one place, and before we give the filters, we teach people how to use them and how they function. We tell them how filters can clean even the dirty water for drinking.
As we teach them how to use the filters and how they work, we connect a message of Christ. That is, Jesus Christ is another filter that cleans the heart of man. We tell them that we want to leave them with both, the small filter to clean dirty water, and the big one to clean the heart. We have seen many people in the villages come to Christ, as a result of this program.

TRAINING FOR OUR TEAM MEMBERS
As from December, 2008, we had training for our people. We took the team away from the city to train them and also to have enough time in prayer and thanks to the Lord for what He has done to us for this year.

It was a very good time to spend time together sharing and fellowship one another. We had enough time to discuss issues concerning our ministry and the plans we have for the future. We had time to hear reports of what happened in the all year. This was also a good time to seek the Lord for more directions of what He wants to do. This camp will be taking place once a year. We will keep this training camp at the end of the year every year.
These are some of the Team Members who attended the Training and Prayer Camp for this Year 2008
